The cleansing and renewal feeling I have right now is bordering on psychotic. I am cleaning my closets like a lunatic and I cannot wait to get rid of everything. Is it a post Rosh Hashanah feeling? Is it fall? Or is it a I’m turning 40 in a few months and I need to become who I am becoming feeling? Please tell me if you can relate.
(I think it’s all of them)
As a deeply emotional sensitive empathetic (+ creative fashion girlie) I have the strongest emotional connection to my closet – each dress holds a memory of a date or a kiss or a dance party or a birthday – and it’s time to throw it all away – because the memories will still be here.
I need to rebirth myself as a new human – or in fact make space for the newness I don’t even know is coming.
I am throwing away so much – and it feels soooooooooooooooooooooooo good
The Sergio Rossi shoes I’ve had since Florence in 2007 – BUH BYE
Anyway, you get what I mean.

September came in like the tornado I expected it to be and I am soaking it all in.
🎨There was this install titled Jewish Joy that is so much fun.
🎨There was this Corporate event at a law firm in midtown where I live painted for a couple hundred people at a cocktail party. (Details are under wraps for a couple more weeks but here's a peek until I am allowed to share more :)
🎨There was this podcast recording with Everyday Rockstars that went live (listen here)
🎨And there was this colorful spray paint party!!
And then we hosted the holiday.
I wore a dress my grandma gave to me 20 years ago. It was my great grandmother’s (Sarah) who I am named after, who I never met. (Ironically the perfect example of NOT THROWING EMOTIONAL CLOTHING AWAY) – or is it just the example of keeping the right things. Not all the things. Anyway, I digress.
What a beautiful holiday. My mom’s side, my dad’s side, and my husbands side altogether in my house that I’d typically say is not actually big enough for 29 adults and 10 kids but really? It was perfect. It was warm and there was a lot of love in that room. My dress was a representation of generations past. And in the days since putting my wedding china away all I feel is settled in who I am and grateful. My heart is full.
I have one more September event at the JCC on the 30th, and then it will be onto more fall things.
If you are having a hard time feeling renewal, I suggest you go for a power walk with a weighted vest on and then come home and throw a few old pieces of clothing away after. It works wonders.
Happy fall + L’shana tova to those who celebrate.
Xoxo,
Sara
